Advance bookings for “Mirzapur: The Movie” have started ahead of its release on September 4. Ticket prices are already causing a stir in several cities. In Noida premium shows are going for much as ₹1,800 while tickets in Mumbai and other major cities are priced lower.
The film has been cleared with an ‘A’ certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The board asked the filmmakers to make some changes, including trimming about 35 seconds of scenes and either muting or replacing certain offensive words.
Even after these edits the movie remains around 3 hours and 17 minutes long. It brings back the known cast, from the popular “Mirzapur” series, featuring Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Divyenndu. The film is directed by Gurmmeet Singh.
With advance bookings already showing numbers the movie is expected to have a busy opening weekend. Industry experts believe it could earn between ₹15 and ₹20 crore on its day. However how well it performs will ultimately depend on what audiences think after watching the film.
