Mumbai: Comedian Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent has made a remarkable comeback with its second season, emerging as one of India’s biggest streaming successes just months after the show was pulled from YouTube following a major controversy.

Season 2 premiered on June 20 and is now being released on Netflix and YouTube, with new episodes continuing to generate significant online buzz. The latest episodes have featured a mix of comedians, actors and musicians, helping the show regain its popularity among viewers.

According to media analytics firm Ormax Media, India’s Got Latent has become India’s most-watched non-sports OTT title during the first half of 2026, recording an estimated 38.5 million views across streaming platforms. The show has outperformed several high-profile films and web series, highlighting its strong fan following despite its turbulent past.

The show’s return comes after its first season was removed from YouTube in 2025 following widespread criticism over controversial remarks made by a guest during one of the episodes. The incident led to multiple complaints and legal proceedings involving several creators associated with the show. Samay Raina later removed all episodes and announced that he would cooperate with the investigation.

Since its comeback, viewers have noted a noticeable shift in the show’s tone. While it retains its signature improvisational humour and audience participation format, several comedians and guests have observed that the content is now more restrained, with greater editorial oversight compared to the inaugural season.

The latest episodes have continued to spark discussions online. Episode 3 recently drew attention after a contestant’s remarks about men went viral, prompting criticism on social media and becoming one of the season’s most debated moments. The contestant received zero points from the judging panel, with clips from the episode widely shared across digital platforms.

Despite the renewed popularity of the series, legal challenges surrounding the earlier controversy have not completely subsided. Earlier this week, the Supreme Court imposed a fine on Samay Raina in connection with non-compliance in proceedings related to the previous India’s Got Latent case, keeping the show in the headlines beyond its entertainment value.

With fresh celebrity panels, viral moments and consistently high viewership, India’s Got Latent has successfully re-established itself as one of India’s most talked-about comedy reality shows. As new episodes continue to release, the series remains a dominant force in the country’s digital entertainment landscape.
