These artisans are one of the many reasons India was once called the “Golden Bird.” Their craftsmanship reflected the richness of our heritage and gave the world a glimpse of India’s creativity. Yet today, many of these talented makers are struggling to earn a decent living.
As modern, machine-made products continue to dominate the market, handmade creations are slowly being pushed aside. The people behind these crafts often receive neither the recognition nor the respect they truly deserve. Many are forced to leave behind skills that have been passed down through generations simply because they can no longer survive on them.
A handmade product is more than just an object. It carries time, effort, emotion, and a story that no machine can recreate. When we choose convenience over craftsmanship, we risk losing a part of our cultural identity.
Traditional markets are not old-fashioned, they are timeless. If we truly value our heritage, we must support the people who keep it alive. Because when their talent disappears, a piece of India’s story disappears with it.
